MSNBC recently announced when its MS Now name change could be expected. Earlier, it was revealed that MSNBC’s parent company, Comcast, has spun the network into a new company called Versant. As the network transitions to this new company, it will lose its ties with NBC and adopt a rebranded identity.
MSNBC to change name to MS Now in mid-November
MSNBC is set to transition to a publicly traded company, Versant, and is being rebranded to MS Now. It will adopt its new name starting November 15. Earlier, the network reportedly fought to keep the name, but NBC refused. This is because NBCUniversal decided that a competitive news network should not carry its markings and design. Therefore, the network opted for a name change and logo redesign. The new logo will feature a red and white flag set against a blue background. Besides it, MS Now will be written in white bold letters.
To inform viewers about the change, the network is launching a marketing campaign. The channel will remain the same, only opting for a new slogan, “Same Mission. New Name.” MSNBC President Rebecca Kutler announced the name change in a memo. She said (via The Wrap), “This moment comes after months of meticulous planning and thoughtful collaboration across every corner of our organization. We are facing it head-on, and our success in the months and years ahead will depend on our innovation and entrepreneurial approach.”
In August 2025, Kutler announced the transition and the vision for MSNBC’s rebranded identity. “During this time of transition, NBCUniversal decided that our brand requires a new, separate identity. This decision now allows us to set our own course and assert our independence as we continue to build our own modern newsgathering operation. The future of our success is not tied to remaining within the NBC family and using the peacock as part of our identity,” she said (via Variety).
