Another major update may be on the horizon for one of Netflix’s biggest franchises. While official confirmation has yet to arrive, new reports suggest that One Piece could soon take another step forward in its live-action journey.
Netflix’s One Piece is rumored to be ‘close to a Season 4 renewal’
Netflix’s live-action One Piece is reportedly “close to a season 4 renewal,” according to industry insider MyTimeToShineHello, who posted the update on X (formerly Twitter) on October 23, 2025. The post stated, “The live action One Piece show has already been renewed for a season 3 that will start filming in the coming months and it’s close to a season 4 renewal.” The update has since gained traction among fans, with hundreds of interactions across social media platforms.
The report follows Netflix’s official announcement of One Piece Season 3 in August 2025. The announcement arrived alongside first-look footage for Season 2, titled One Piece: Into the Grand Line. The streamer confirmed that production on Season 3 will start later this year in Cape Town, South Africa. Ian Stokes will join Joe Tracz as co-showrunner, executive producer, and writer.
The live-action adaptation, based on Eiichiro Oda’s manga, premiered in August 2023 and quickly became one of Netflix’s biggest hits. It spent eight weeks on the platform’s Global Top 10 and also took the number one spot in 46 regions. Season 2 finished filming in February 2025 after shooting in South Africa and will adapt story arcs including Loguetown, Drum Island, and Little Garden.
Earlier, co-showrunner Matt Owens told Deadline that Season 2 will explore Luffy’s “challenge of leadership.” Oda confirmed he remains closely involved in the writing and casting process. Netflix has not yet made an official statement about a Season 4 renewal. However, reports indicate the streamer is optimistic about continuing the Straw Hat Pirates’ journey beyond the Arabasta saga.
