The Social Network 2 Reveals 4 New Additions To Cast

Aaron Sorkin’s The Social Reckoning, also known as The Social Network 2, is expanding its cast with new high-profile names as production ramps up. The follow-up to The Social Network continues to gain momentum with several additions to its ensemble. The film revisits themes of social media power and accountability, exploring the real-life whistleblower story that exposed Facebook’s inner workings.

Anna Lambe, Billy Magnussen and more join The Social Reckoning cast

Billy Magnussen, Betty Gilpin, Gbenga Akinnagbe, and Anna Lambe have joined The Social Reckoning, Sony’s follow-up to The Social Network, according to Deadline. The cast also includes Mikey Madison, Jeremy Allen White, Jeremy Strong, Bill Burr, and Wunmi Mosaku. Aaron Sorkin, who wrote the original 2010 Oscar-winning film, returns as writer and director for the companion piece, which releases in theaters on October 9, 2026.

The upcoming drama follows Frances Haugen (Madison), a Facebook engineer who teams up with Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz (White) to expose the company’s hidden operations. Strong plays Mark Zuckerberg, taking over the role from Jesse Eisenberg. Character details for Magnussen, Gilpin, Akinnagbe, and Lambe have not been revealed.

Magnussen, known for No Time to Die and Game Night, recently appeared in Disney’s Lilo & Stitch. He also featured in The Franchise. Gilpin, a three-time Emmy nominee for GLOW, will appear in Netflix’s Death by Lightning with Michael Shannon and Office Romance with Jennifer Lopez.

Akinnagbe, recognized for The Wire and The Deuce, was most recently seen in A House of Dynamite. He also appeared in The Old Man.

Lambe stars in North of North and appeared in True Detective: Night Country. She recently filmed Heart of the Beast with Brad Pitt and J.K. Simmons. Producers for The Social Reckoning include Todd Black, Peter Rice, Sorkin, and Stuart Besser.

The upcoming movie, described as a “companion piece” to The Social Network, follows a whistleblower who challenges Facebook’s global power. It continues Sorkin’s exploration of technology, ethics, and accountability in the digital age.
