Idris Elba-Led Hijack Gets Exciting Season 2 Teaser & Release Date

Idris Elba is back in action, as Apple TV+ has officially revealed the teaser and release date for the second season of his hit TV show, Hijack, confirming that the high-stakes thriller will return with new episodes soon.

Hijack Season 2 releases first teaser, sets January premiere date

Apple TV+ has announced that Idris Elba’s Hijack Season 2 will premiere globally on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, with a two-episode debut, followed by weekly releases through February 25, 2026. The reveal came alongside a teaser showing Elba’s character, Sam Nelson, boarding a commuter train in Berlin, only to find himself in yet another hijacking. The brief clip teases a ticking time bomb, setting the tone for a season that looks every bit as intense as its predecessor.

Filming for Hijack Season 2 wrapped in February 2025, and Apple reportedly delayed its release to give the show a prime slot on its increasingly competitive lineup. Now, the new season shifts from the skies to the subways.

According to the official synopsis, “a Berlin underground train and its commuters are taken hostage, while authorities scramble to save hundreds of lives. Sam Nelson is at the heart of the crisis on board, where one wrong decision could spell disaster.” (via Apple TV)

The storyline continues in real-time, a signature format that made the show’s first season so gripping. Along with Idris Elba, the cast also includes returning co-stars Christine Adams, Max Beesley, and Archie Panjabi, all reprising their roles from the first season. Hijack Season 2 also adds an impressive slate of new talent, including Toby Jones, Lisa Vicari, Clare-Hope Ashitey, Karima McAdams, and Christiane Paul.

The show continues its partnership between 60Forty Films and Idiotlamp Productions, with George Kay and Jim Field Smith returning as co-creators and executive producers. Smith also directs the new season.
