Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson became a talking point after the “Passengers” actor joked about dancing naked with the “Mickey 17” star. This reportedly occurred while prepping their thriller “Die My Love”, calling the experience humiliating.
The actors performed an interpretive dance in rehearsals at director Lynne Ramsay’s request, then faced the same moves on the first day of filming without clothes. Lawrence said the icebreaker worked, even though the duo barely knew each other before the shoot.
Jennifer Lawrence said she and Robert Pattinson embarrass quite easily
During her recent appearance on “The Graham Norton Show,” Jennifer Lawrence spoke of her experience of dancing in the nude with co-star Robert Pattinson. As reported by People, she provided the context, “Lynne Ramsay, the director, challenged us during rehearsals – Robert [Pattinson] and I had to do interpretative dance lessons together.” She added, “We both embarrass quite easily, and we didn’t really know each other, so it was totally humiliating.”
Lawrence added Ramsay’s bold day-one task. The actor said, “Then on the first day of filming, she asked whether we remembered what we did and asked if we would do it naked!”. After the gasps, Lawrence joked, “Should I have said no?”
Both Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson lead the cast of their upcoming film “Die My Love”, adapted from Ariana Harwicz’s novel about a new mother spiralling into psychosis. Lawrence plays Grace, the protagonist, while Pattinson plays Jackson, the worried partner.
Martin Scorsese encouraged the project after reading the book. Lawrence explained that she trusted his instinct even when she struggled to picture the adaptation. She said his recommendation convinced her to take the role and lean into Ramsay’s unconventional process.
Pattinson has acknowledged the dance challenge from his side, too. In a video chat with GQ, he recounted a warning that freeform dancing would trigger a meltdown. He said the team told him to relax and just dance. His anecdote explains why their dynamic needed quick trust. The rehearsal stunt forced them past small talk and into raw vulnerability.
“Die My Love” premiered at Cannes this year to an extended ovation and was acquired by Mubi.
