The Voice Left Snoop Dogg Crying Hard, Here’s Why

Snoop Dogg is famous for keeping his calm, but on the latest episode of The Voice, the rapper-turned-coach couldn’t hold it together. A powerhouse duet during the show’s new Battle format left him reaching for tissues, and fans got to see a softer side of him.

Why Snoop Dogg was crying on The Voice?

On the Oct. 13 episode of The Voice Season 28, Team Snoop singers Yoshihanaa and Natalia Albertini came together to sing Carole King’s classic “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.” The coaches and audience were blown away by the performance, and even Snoop got teary-eyed.

Snoop’s explained why he got so emotional. Explaining it, he said, he had just watched two amazing artists give it their all, but knew he could only keep one. Snoop stated, “Y’all made me shed a tear. I’m just thinking about [how] Lizzo gave y’all so much information and y’all used it. But I was crying because I can only keep one of you, and my heart is broke [broken].” After some thinking, Snoop gave the win to Yoshihanaa.

Snoop wasn’t the only one who got emotional. Coach Lizzo, who helped Team Snoop during rehearsals, said the energy in the room was pure “diva” vibes and even admitted she got teary-eyed from joy.

Niall Horan, the erstwhile One Direction member, called it a classic “old-school Voice battle.” He also claimed that people love watching the show because of performances like this.

Reba McEntire also praised both singers, calling Natalia’s range and husky tone “incredible,” but said Yoshihanaa reminded her of “Aretha Franklin.” Michael Bublé loved how effortlessly Yoshihanaa performed and said she didn’t need to go for “a knockout punch” because her tone and control were strong enough to win the Battle.

Unlike the other seasons, this time the artists pair themselves instead of being assigned by coaches. This means two artists choose each other and fight for one single spot.
