Chicago Med star Nick Gehlfuss, who plays Dr. Will Halstead, has teased marriage plans with Torrey DeVitto’s Dr. Natalie Manning. Season 11 premiered on October 1, 2025, and it already has plans for major surprises for fans. Let’s take a quick look at what Gehlfuss had to say about the characters’ relationship’s next step.
Nick Gehlfuss thinks Will and Natalie’s marriage is on the horizon in Chicago Med
Nick Gehlfuss will return to the show after his exit at the end of Season 8. Playing his role of Dr. Will Halstead, he will make a comeback in the 200th episode of Chicago Med. At the end of Season 8, Halstead left for Seattle to move in with Natalie and her son Owen. Now, two seasons later, he’ll reportedly guest-star on the show for an unknown number of episodes.
In an interview with Soaps.com, Gehlfuss spoke about his return on Chicago Med as Dr. Will Halstead. When asked about what Will has been up to personally and professionally, he answered, “I think Will has been enjoying time with the love of his life in Seattle.”
Further elaborating on his relationship with Natalie and Owen he continued, “But what’s been a bit of importance lately is his relationship with Owen, given some new changes, and he actually brings Owen to Chicago to have a bit of a boys’ bonding weekend… I think he’s trying to navigate figuring out how to strengthen his relationship with Owen, and that is also, of course, playing into his relationship with Natalie, and making that work and finding that family unit.”
Gehlfuss confirms whether Halstead has finally put a ring on it with Natalie, with a simple, “He has not.” When questioned about what’s taking him so long Gehlfuss answered, “Well, I think the subject at hand, once it is figured out, if any subject at hand ever gets truly figured out, I think it will move the needle on that.”
Hence, this could be a teaser for what’s to come. But there is no confirmation yet of how long we will have to wait for Will and Natalie’s marriage. Tune in to NBC to catch the latest drama on Season 11 of Chicago Med.
