House of David star Michael Iskander recently shared the reason behind taking on the titular role in the series. House of David is a historical drama, the latest season of which debuted on October 5 on the platform Wonder Project. The series premiered on Prime Video in February this year and has since become a hit among subscribers.
Michael Iskander says he did House of David because David had ‘so many aspects to his life’
Actor Michael Iskander recently had a chat with AP News about Season 2 of his series House of David, and he shared why he took on the title role.
Iskander spoke about how people have resonated with the biblical figure he plays in the show. When asked about what attracted him to the character of David, the actor said, “David is known for being the Psalm writer, and the poet. But he was also a warrior. He became a king. And so, this man has so many aspects to his life.”
He added, “Famously Bathsheba: cheating on his eight wives with the wife of one of his soldiers, and then covering that up by killing that soldier. And yet, that guy is known as the man after God’s own heart. How does David get that title? You discover that the whole point of the story of David is about the heart, how a heart after God can lead you to defeating giants.”
The logline of House of David Season 2 on the Wonder Project website states, “In Season 2 of House of David, Israel nears collapse as Saul’s reign falters. David rises from shepherd to warrior, caught between loyalty and destiny, while the Age of Iron transforms warfare. As families fracture, forbidden loves spark, and alliances shift, faith and power collide in a struggle that will decide Israel’s future.”
