J.K. Rowling and Emma Watson’s cold war just heated up, thanks to the former’s cryptic tweets, which are believed to be directed towards the Harry Potter star. In the Wednesday podcast of On Purpose with Jay Shetty, Watson confessed she bears no ill will against the star author and cherishes fond memories with her.
Did J.K. Rowling call out Emma Watson after her comments?
J.K. Rowling is in no mood to forgive and forget, and fans are convinced that her recent tweet is directed at Emma Watson, who recently made a rare appearance on spiritual influencer Jay Shetty’s podcast.
The actress, who has been on a hiatus for a couple of years now, addressed her feud with the author of Harry Potter. Notably, in 2020, Rowling shared her views on transgender issues and the transgender community, which many viewed as problematic, regressive, and transphobic.
Emma Watson and Harry Potter stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint publicly supported the transgender community. They also indirectly criticized Rowling over her views.
In the recent episode of Jay Shetty’s podcast, the host asked Watson about the Harry Potter author. Rowling said she would “never forgive” Watson for her views and that the trio now “ruin” movies for her.
Emma Watson had a dignified response to the matter. The 35-year-old actress said, “I really don’t believe that by having had that experience and holding the love and support and views that I have, mean that I can’t and don’t treasure Jo and the person that I had personal experiences with.”
She added, “I think it’s my deepest wish that I hope people who don’t agree with my opinion will love me, and I hope I can keep loving people who I don’t necessarily share the same opinion with.”
She also said that she regrets she could never have a one-on-one conversation with J.K. Rowling (via Variety and LADbible).
However, it seems like J.K. Rowling is in no mood to forgive and forget. She tweeted a statement, which is believed to be a jibe directed towards Emma Watson.
Fans have guessed that the shady tweet targets Emma Watson and are showing their support for her in the comments section.
One user wrote, “Is all that hate really necessary? And why, if you believe you have the truth, throw so many indirect jabs? Emma spoke openly and respectfully, while you’re just constantly attacking. By the way, she’s not regretting anything—she has shown more maturity than you.”
Another fan commented, “People already started to complain about Emma Watson’s diplomatic reply about the rift with J.K. Rowling. Emma never stopped being grateful towards Jo. Being part of the magical Harry Potter world will always be one of her best memories. This cancel culture needs to go.”
