Henry Cavill Debuts New Hairstyle Amid Injury & Highlander Shoot

Henry Cavill shared a new selfie on Instagram, showing off his new, long, wavy hairstyle. This selfie comes one week after the actor was injured while training for the upcoming Highlander reboot. Cavill’s injury resulted in production being delayed to 2026. In the reboot, directed by Chad Stahelski, Cavill will essay Connor MacLeod, the protagonist. MacLeod was originally played by Christopher Lambert in the 1986 film, its sequels, and the television series.

Henry Cavill shares selfie with new hairstyle

Henry Cavill shared two pictures on Instagram. The first is a close-up look at his new hairstyle, where the top of his hair was slicked back and the lower portions were styled in thick curls and waves. Further, the actor, who sat on a sofa near his dog Baggins, sported a clean-shaven look.

The Witcher actor’s hairstyle is reminiscent of Christopher Lambert’s hairdo in the original Highlander films. Meanwhile, the second is a picture of his injured left leg, which was wrapped in bandages and resting on a white cushion-like surface elevated on the table. The post’s caption included William Ernest Henley’s 1888 poem, Invictus.

Cavill’s new hairstyle drew mixed reactions. Some fans liked it while others expressed disapproval. The Man of Steel actor’s new selfie comes one week after he suffered a leg injury while fight training for Highlander. Specifics about his injury have not been shared.

Cavill has been preparing for Highlander for months. In April 2024, at CinemaCon, he teased that his sword work in the film would be unlike anything fans had seen before. “If you think you’ve seen me do sword work before, you haven’t seen anything yet,” he said (via The Hollywood Reporter).

Production on the Highlander reboot will reportedly begin in early 2026. Like the original films, the story follows Connor MacLeod, a 16th-century warrior from the Scottish Highlands who becomes immortal after his first death. MacLeod, who can only be killed by beheading, subsequently begins fighting other people like him and other powerful enemies.

Besides Cavill, the upcoming Highlander reboot will star Russell Crowe, Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, and Djimon Hounsou.
