Highlander Reboot’s Rumored Plot Reveals Epic Details About Henry Cavill’s Role

A new report has revealed rumored plot details for Henry Cavill’s upcoming Highlander reboot. The project, directed by Chad Stahelski, has faced several production delays. The update drew attention as anticipation grows for the modern reimagining of the 1986 fantasy classic.

Plot rumor for Highlander reboot sets up a heroic clash for Henry Cavill’s Connor MacLeod

The film faced multiple delays, but it seems scooper Daniel Richtman has revealed the rumored synopsis online. MGM’s United Artists banner produces the project, reimagining the 1986 classic with new characters and expanded mythology.

According to Richtman’s summary, “Centuries after his first death on a Scottish battlefield, immortal warrior Connor MacLeod lives quietly in the modern world, haunted by loss and the endless cycle of violence among his kind. When the ruthless immortal Kurgan resurfaces, backed by a secret organization bent on unlocking the secret of eternal life, Connor is forced back into the Game — an ancient battle where ‘there can be only one.’” (via SF Gazette)

The synopsis continues, “Guided by his mentor Ramírez and a mortal ally, archaeologist Kate Bennett, Connor must confront his past and rediscover his purpose. As immortals clash across time and continents, the fight for the mysterious ‘Prize’ becomes a battle for humanity’s soul.” Cavill will portray MacLeod, while Dave Bautista takes on the role of Kurgan.

The cast also includes Karen Gillan as MacLeod’s wife, Heather, and Djimon Hounsou as an African immortal warrior. Jeremy Irons plays The Watchers’ leader, while Marisa Abela portrays MacLeod’s love interest, and Russell Crowe appears as Ramírez, Connor’s wise mentor.

Earlier, Stahelski told The Direct, “We’re bringing it forward from the early 1500s in the highlands to beyond present-day New York and Hong Kong,” describing it as a “big opportunity for action” and “a bit of a love story, but not how you think.”

Highlander is slated for release in 2027 or 2028.
