When it comes to keeping romance alive, Matthew McConaughey believes the answer might be simpler than most people think. The Oscar-winning actor recently revealed that one small change in the bedroom helped strengthen his marriage to Camila Alves.

Matthew McConaughey shared that switching from a king-size bed to a queen-size one made a world of difference in his relationship. Married to Alves since 2012, the actor explained how distance — even in sleep — can creep into a marriage.
“I wake up one morning … I’m looking over there and Camilla’s like a football field away man,” he told Fox News Digital. “Then you go to bed at night, like you want to snuggle up and … ‘Well, we’ve got to cover you up. Come about 12 feet and I’ll come 12 feet.’”
McConaughey joked that the oversized bed wasn’t doing their marriage any favors. “You’re like, man, this damn king-size bed is not good for the marriage, man. Get rid of that son of a b***h. So we got a queen size where we’re shoulder to shoulder. I’m telling you, it’s good for your marriage.”
Beyond bedtime, McConaughey emphasized the importance of carving out quality time as a couple, even when parenting responsibilities take over. The couple shares three children: Levi, 17, Vida, 15, and Livingston, 12.
“You’ve got kids, so you don’t … you’re spending as much time being a good mother and father of them, but you also gotta make sure — and I can do a better job of — of going, ‘No, this is our time,’” he admitted.
He stressed that showing affection and respect in front of children helps set the tone for how they will approach their own relationships later in life. “You gotta..remember that one of the best examples you can give the kids … is how you treat their mother and how the mother treats the father.”
Matthew McConaughey first met Camila Alves, a model and entrepreneur, at a Los Angeles nightclub in 2006. They married in 2012 in a private Texas ceremony.
