RadarOnline exclusively learned about the reason why Ben Affleck has been supporting Jennifer Lopez’s kids after their split. The latter filed for divorce in August 2024, listing their date of separation as April 26 of that year. Nevertheless, the actor continues to take care of her teenage children, Max and Emme, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Marc Anthony. However, Affleck’s motives might be for personal gain.
A source claimed that Affleck is only ensuring everybody sees him “as supportive and still involved with the kids’ lives.” This allegedly makes him look good and also keeps Lopez from “feeling like she needs to sting him after their divorce.” The Oscar winner fears that she might spill the beans “in a book, documentary, or her music.” Moreover, he believes “looking after” the singer’s twins “financially and emotionally is a way to get her to avoid going down that road.”
Months after finalizing the divorce, Affleck still “keeps the line open” for Lopez and her kids. In addition, he offers them “support when they ask for it” and ensures “they feel looked after.” The “Justice League” star hasn’t completely cut ties with them and remains somewhat involved — something Max and Emme also understand that he is “only a call away.”
Nevertheless, insiders called Affleck “smart,” adding that he is aware his ex-wife would “write about what went wrong” if she wanted to. Therefore, they opined that he is only maintaining the peace to protect himself from a possible exposé. As for Lopez, a friend, describing her as a “devoted mother,” revealed she “really invested time” in his three kids, whom she shares with ex, Jennifer Garner, and continues to do so.
