Meghan Markle’s Invictus Games Wardrobe Was a Pivot From Royal Style Restrictions, Expert Claims

Meghan Markle‘s fashion streak at the 2023 Invictus Games reportedly reflected a shift away from the royal style protocol. From relaxed outfits to a strapless dress, the Duchess of Sussex flaunted her casual-chic West Coast elegance three years after her move to California with Prince Harry. Now, an expert claims that Markle’s wardrobe represented a major pivot from royal restrictions at the time.

Meghan Markle’s style ‘spoke of a woman no longer feeling constrained by protocol,’ expert claims

A style expert recently weighed in on Meghan Markle’s outfits from the Invictus Games 2023 and her notable break from royal fashion restraints. Sandy Lancaster, House of Colour stylist, told the Daily Mail that Markle’s “wardrobe represented a real pivot point in her fashion evolution.” Lancaster believes it became evident as she ditched the “formal pencil skirts and belted dresses that defined her working royal style” for more laid-back looks.

Instead, the Duchess of Sussex took her West Coast-core wardrobe collection for a run. These attires, comprising shorts, a strapless dress, skinny jeans, and “easy separates,” showcased her transition into someone more casual and relaxed. The expert further alleged that these styles “spoke of a woman no longer feeling constrained by protocol.”

Additionally, this shift represented a “different stage” of Markle’s life – one in which she freely expresses herself and “connects with people less formally.” Lancaster also described all the styles she took for a spin throughout the event, with special emphasis on a strapless Cult Gaia dress for the closing ceremony. Photos showed her walking alongside Prince Harry in the ensemble.

Then, Meghan Markle’s other get-ups for the Invictus Games that year included a linen romper with a blazer and more short shorts. More photos showed her embracing skinny jeans with a tank top for a monochrome all-black look. In fact, in September 2022, she wore wide-leg trousers with a halter-neck top for the Year to Go launch event.
