According to a report by Robshuter, Ellen DeGeneres might have adopted a new name, Eli, after leaving Hollywood and the United States.
The outlet claims that one of the friends of the renowned comedian said, “Eli is lighter, freer, and finally living without the weight of carrying a billion-dollar brand.” Another insider shared insights about the life of DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi in the United Kingdom. The insider conveyed, “People here love them. Eli is approachable, grounded, and happy. No entourage. No pressure. Just life.”
As for a comeback in the entertainment business, a friend of DeGeneres claimed to the outlet, “For the first time in years, they’re truly content. This isn’t about performing. It’s about peace.”
Whether DeGeneres has really made the move to change her name has not been confirmed by the retired talk show host.
DeGeneres has been living in the United Kingdom with her wife for nearly a year now. According to a report by the BBC, DeGeneres spoke about her decision with broadcaster Richard Bacon at the Everyman theater in July 2025 and said, “We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, ‘He got in’. And we’re like, ‘We’re staying here.'”
She added, “It’s absolutely beautiful. We’re just not used to seeing this kind of beauty. The villages and the towns and the architecture – everything you see is charming, and it’s just a simpler way of life. It’s clean. Everything here is just better – the way animals are treated, people are polite. I just love it here.”
