Sabrina Carpenter isn’t holding back when it comes to how Hollywood Records treated her debut album, “Eyes Wide Open.” In an interview with Nardwuar, the pop star made a bold statement after hearing some surprising facts about her very first studio album.

During the interview, she learned that the record label made only 200 vinyl copies of “Eyes Wide Open.” Moreover, the company gave most of them away to its executives. For those unversed, Hollywood Records was Carpenter’s former label.

When the interviewer asked if she received a copy, the 26-year-old stated that she didn’t. The singer tried to diffuse the tension by adding, “Or maybe at the time, but I don’t know. I moved a couple of times in the middle.”

However, seemingly unable to hold back her shock, Carpenter asked, “Only 200 made?” The interviewer nodded to confirm. She then replied, “Damn. They really didn’t give a f*** about me,” before bursting into laughter. The pop star concluded by simply saying, “It’s okay.”

Fans dropped supportive comments for Carpenter. “Crazy to think how far she’s come since then. From barely any copies to selling out arenas, true growth,” one of them expressed, highlighting how much she has grown as an artist.

Another commented, “Oof, that hits hard. But look at her now… total glow-up and thrivin’,” with a star and music emoticon. A fan also noted, “She turned a forgotten debut into a career that speaks for itself, and that’s real resilience.”

Sabrina Carpenter released her album, “Eyes Wide Open,” more than a decade ago, on April 14, 2015. She was barely 15 years old at the time and sang about friendship and issues that teenagers could highly relate to. The singer released three more albums with Hollywood Records before parting ways with the record label.
