Young Sheldon’s Raegan Revord Speaks on Their Gender Identity

Raegan Revord drew attention after opening up about their personal journey and identity. The Young Sheldon star shared the news during a recent interview, reflecting on what it means to live authentically and represent others who may see themselves in their story.

Here’s what we know about their announcement, the inspiration behind it, and the projects they are pursuing now.

Raegan Revord discusses their gender identity and debut novel

Raegan Revord, best known for playing Missy Cooper on Young Sheldon, has publicly come out as nonbinary.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the 17-year-old actor said, “It’s so cool because growing up, whenever I would see a celebrity or whoever come out as nonbinary or queer, I was like, ‘Oh my god, this is so cool, I see myself in you.’” They added, “It’s so crazy to have that experience where I’m now that person and there might be a kid somewhere who’s like, ‘Oh my god, I see myself in you.’”

Revord emphasized the importance of representation, explaining, “And that’s such an insane thing ’cause I was in that kid’s shoes at some point in my life.” Their perspective connects directly to their creative work. On September 2, they released their debut novel, Rules of Fake Girlfriends, which follows a college student caught in a fake dating scheme.

Speaking to People, they shared, “A lot of people will doubt you because of your age, and a lot of people will not take you seriously. I had such a passion and such a love for this book and this story, and I thought it was so important to tell. And if that’s how you feel about being a writer, then you have enough.”

Beyond acting and writing, Revord also revealed their hidden online presence earlier this year. Using the Twitch handle Setting_Sunset, they had been streaming faceless content for over two years. Revord’s career has spanned Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, and their latest public announcement marks another step in openly sharing their identity and creative pursuits.
