2Pac Allegedly Tried To Hit on This Hollywood Superstar

Bokeem Woodbine recently claimed that the late acting and music icon, Tupac “2Pac” Shakur, once tried to hit on Lucy Liu. The latter two acted together in 1997’s Gridlock’d, which was directed by Vondie Curtis-Hall. The movie also featured Woodbine in an uncredited role.

The story follows two heroin addicts who decide to abandon their dependence when one of their fellow addicts overdoses. Besides Liu and Shakur, the movie also starred Tim Roth and Thandiwe Newton.

The Fargo alum recently sat down for an interview. He alleged that 2Pac tried to flirt with Lucy Liu while filming Gridlock’d.

Woodbine told The Art of Dialogue that there was no story behind the actors and that it was just a “funny anecdote.” He recalled the Charlie’s Angels actress practicing with her escrima sticks and telling him that it was her “new thing,” which he was impressed by.

“I just remember one day on set, ‘Pac coming to knock on my trailer,” Woodbine shared. “And he was like, ‘Yo, man, what are you doing?’ I was like, ‘I’m just chilling.'”

Woodbine recalled 2Pac telling him that he had come from Liu’s trailer and had been trying to flirt with her. He further recollected the late rapper telling him that the Kill Bill star didn’t understand that he was trying to hit on her and that she was just showing him her eskrima sticks.

“He was like, ‘Okay, well, maybe if I feign some interest and act like I’m interested in what she’s trying to talk to me about, you know, it’ll get me closer to sealing the deal,'” he added.

Woodbine further stated that Lucy Liu simply had 2Pac swinging her sticks, even though he was only “trying to get at her.” “So, I’m just cracking up,” Woodbine added. “And I said, ‘How’d it work? Did it work?’ He’s like, ‘No, it didn’t work.'” He continued, “I said, ‘Ah, don’t worry about it, man. You know, you can’t win them all.'”

Woodbine stressed that there was no language barrier between them since Liu hails from Queens, New York City. However, he speculated that she wasn’t “vibing” with the late artist “in that kind of way.” He added that the late rapper’s attempts to flirt with her “went over her head.”
