Chris Martin comments on keeping kiss cam amid controversy
Recently, as per People, Chris Martin made comments on Monday, August 18, 2025, about the kiss cam during his Music of the Spheres world tour performance at Craven Park in Kingston upon Hull, England.
At this event, Chris Martin, the lead singer of the band Coldplay, stated that the kiss cam will continue to be a feature and humorously referenced a previous situation: “We’ve been doing [the Jumbotron] a long time and it is only recently that it became a… yeah,” he elaborated. “Life throws you lemons and you’ve got to make lemonade. So, we are going to keep doing it because we are going to meet some of you.”
Earlier in the month, Coldplay’s kiss cam captured former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and HR executive Kristin Cabot. They appeared quite cozy at a concert at Gillette Stadium. This now-famous TikTok video attracted significant global attention. In the clip, the couple was seen embracing from behind and quickly concealing their faces, which led Martin to humorously suggest that they were involved in an affair.
“Oh, look at these two! All right, c’mon, you’re okay,” he said, before adding, “Oh, what? Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
This turned out to be accurate, as the couple was indeed having an affair. Ultimately, both Byron and Cabot resigned from their positions at Astronomer.
Despite the sensational buzz, Chris Martin has made it clear that Coldplay will continue to follow the kiss-cam tradition. The band plans to keep the tradition alive in their future live concerts. While earlier incidents may have generated headlines, the band asserts that it will remain committed to its mission. For Coldplay, the essence of the show revolves around unity and celebration.
