Emma Stone Shares Her Mom’s Embarrassing Angelina Jolie Encounter

Emma Stone recently shared a memory from the 2011 Golden Globe Awards, where her mother unknowingly asked Angelina Jolie a very awkward question. The Academy Award winner revealed the full story behind it.

Emma Stone explained in Vogue’s “Life in Looks” segment that the 2011 Golden Globes was unforgettable for two reasons: her overly bronzed spray tan and the conversation her mother, Krista Stone, had with Angelina Jolie. “That was a really, really fun night because I brought my mom, and we sat next to Angelina Jolie, and she asked Angelina Jolie if she had any kids,” Stone recalled with an awkward nod.

The moment was awkward because Jolie, at the time, was one of the most famous celebrity moms in the world, raising six children with then-husband Brad Pitt: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne.

That same night, both actresses shared nominations in the Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy category. Stone got recognition for her breakout role in Easy A, while Jolie was nominated for The Tourist. Neither walked away with the trophy, but the night still gave Stone a story she has now shared.

While further breaking down her looks, Stone also spoke about her time starring in the Amazing Spider-Man films alongside Andrew Garfield. She remembered the franchise as “really a special time,” praising her co-stars and director Marc Webb.

Up next, Stone reunites with director Yórgos Lánthimos for Bugonia, releasing October 24, 2025. The thriller follows Stone as a CEO kidnapped by conspiracy theorists. It marks Stone’s fifth collaboration with the filmmaker after Poor Things, Kinds of Kindness, The Favourite, and the short film, Bleat.
