Peaches Sold Nationwide Recalled for Potentially Fatal Bacteria Contamination

The FDA has issued a peach recall due to possible Listeria contamination on Thursday, October 30. The company Moonlight Companies voluntarily initiated the recall of yellow and white peaches grown in California and distributed in stores nationwide. The fruits impacted are Moonlight Yellow Peaches, Moonlight White Peaches, Moonlight Peppermint Peaches (a variety of white peaches), and Kroger Yellow Peaches, all sold between September 16 and October 29, 2025. The bacteria Listeria monocytogenes “can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections” for children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems, according to the FDA.

    • PLU stickers 4401 and 4044
  • Moonlight Yellow Peaches (multi-packs)
    • UPC Numbers: 8 10248 03165 6 and 8 98429 00209 1
  • Moonlight White Peaches (individual pieces)
    • PLU stickers 4401 and 4044

  • Kroger Yellow Peaches (multi-packs)
    • UPC Numbers: 11110, 18174

It is important to note that this recall does not affect Moonlight peaches with packages or PLU stickers indicating that they are organic or from Washington.

The Listeria bacteria were detected by the company within the environment of its packing facility.

No illnesses due to consumption of the possibly affected peaches have been reported to date. That said, healthy individuals may experience short-term symptoms such as stiffness, high fever, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. A Listeria infection can cause stillbirths and miscarriages in pregnant women.

This week, the FDA has issued other recalls for two Halloween candies and a popular pork product for containing shards of plastic.
