Dolphins’ Bayron Matos Airlifted to Hospital After Training Camp Injury

Ahead of the 2025-26 NFL season, the Miami Dolphins have suffered a concerning blow in the form of Bayron Matos‘ latest injury. The unfortunate incident occurred on Wednesday while Miami’s training camp was ongoing and required assistance from a helicopter to escort Matos to the hospital. As such, fans have come out to inquire about the football player’s condition at the moment.

What happened to the Miami Dolphins’ Bayron Matos?

On July 23, Bayron Matos encountered a knock that ultimately resulted in the Dolphins calling off the practice session prematurely. The two-time Super Bowl champions have since provided an update on the up-and-coming offensive tackle’s state, revealing that Matos is presently in a “stable condition.”

The Dolphins took to their official X (formerly Twitter) account to share information on the 24-year-old sportsman’s status, noting, “Bayron Matos sustained an injury at the end of Wednesday’s practice and was transported to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he remained overnight for evaluation and testing. He has movement in all extremities and is in stable condition. He will remain in the care of doctors for continued observation.”

Bayron Matos’ issue adds to the Dolphins’ injury troubles, with Artie Burns also heading to the sidelines with what seems to be an ACL problem. ESPN’s Adam Schefter recently shared an update on the 30-year-old cornerback’s situation, writing, “Dolphins veteran CB Artie Burns, who injured his knee at practice today and left on crutches, is feared to have a torn ACL, per source. Burns is now awaiting an MRI and second opinion to confirm.”

Having switched sides from basketball to football in 2022, the Dominican professional started his professional journey by participating in the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program in 2024. After going back on their decision to sign him, the Dolphins eventually provided Matos with a reserve/future contract in January 2025. The young offensive tackle has yet to make his debut in the NFL.
