Pete Davidson and his girlfriend are expecting a child, and he recently revealed that Adam Sandler gave him “great” advice about becoming a father. Sandler is one of many of Davidson’s celebrity friends who have rallied around him with encouragement and support.
Pete Davidson reveals Adam Sandler gave him great advice
Pete Davidson made an appearance at the New York premiere of his upcoming film, The Home, on July 22, where he confirmed he’s been receiving parenting advice ever since announcing he’s expecting his first child with girlfriend Elsie Hewitt.
When E! News asked what longtime pals like Colin Jost and John Mulaney had to say, Davidson shared, “Everybody’s just been super excited for me because they know it’s been my dream.” “They all just have been like, ‘You’re going to be great at this. It’s the best thing you’ll ever do in your life,” he added.
But it was Sandler’s advice that stood out. While Pete Davidson didn’t go into specifics, he described Adam Sandler’s guidance as “great” and expressed how grateful he felt to be surrounded by such genuine support. “When you do something, and we do anything, you want everyone to be excited. Especially having a child,” he said. “Everybody’s been great. I’m very lucky and very, very happy.”
Davidson also shared what excites him most about becoming a parent. “Just be able to take care of something and… Show it the childhood that I didn’t have,” he said. The Saturday Night Live alum has often spoken about his difficult upbringing. His father, a firefighter, died in the 9/11 attacks when Davidson was just seven years old. He and his sister were raised by their mother on Staten Island.
When asked how he knew Elsie Hewitt was the one he wanted to start a family with, Davidson didn’t hesitate. “She’s the best,” he said. “We both met through mutual friends and weren’t even looking for anything. I’d say she’s the female version of me, and I’m the male version of her. We laugh all day, so we’re stoked.”
Hewitt announced the pregnancy on Instagram on July 16, sharing a sonogram and a sweet clip of Davidson holding her hand during an ultrasound.
