JoJo Siwa has addressed the growing speculation about her rumored boyfriend, Love Island alum Chris Hughes. After weeks of public speculation, cozy social media posts, and a viral airport moment, the singer and dancer responded directly during a live interview on ITV’s Lorraine. Siwa’s comments come days after fans spotted her holding hands with Hughes and sharing affectionate photos from their Mexican getaway.

JoJo Siwa addressed romance rumors involving Chris Hughes during her appearance on ITV’s Lorraine on May 26, 2025.
When host Andi Peters referred to Hughes as her boyfriend, Siwa laughed and replied, “No. It’s so funny to me how straight-up people get nowadays.” She clarified that although she and Hughes have had many conversations, they’ve never discussed exclusivity “in the Love Island kitchen way.”
She said, “Chris couldn’t let me down even if he tried. He couldn’t let anybody down. He’s the best man.” Siwa appeared to confirm that they are not officially dating, despite public speculation following their joint appearances and social media activity.
The rumors began after Siwa and Hughes appeared together on Celebrity Big Brother UK. Photos of the pair kissing during a Mexico trip on May 22 sparked further speculation. On May 25, Hughes was photographed giving Siwa a bouquet of flowers at Heathrow Airport. There, they where they were seen holding hands.
Siwa also addressed the rumors at Universal Studios’ Epic Universe opening on May 23, where she showed off a phone background of a “forehead kiss selfie” with Hughes and described things as “going great.” She told PEOPLE on May 21 that she was “happier than ever” and “in such a great place.”
On This Morning last month, Siwa previously said, “It is platonic, we have a lot of fun together,” while Hughes described their connection as “a soulmate friendship.” Siwa further stated in her Us Weekly cover story that Hughes had “absolutely nothing to do” with her breakup from Kath Ebbs and emphasized there was “no muddy water.”
Both Siwa and Hughes have continued to share affectionate posts, including cuddled-up photos from their vacation. Hughes captioned one post, “The previous 7 days have been the prettiest,” while Siwa commented, “& happiest:). Heart is overflowing.”
