Jane Bright, known for her appearance on Survivor: Nicaragua in 2010, has died at age 71.

Her daughter Ashley Hammett announced the news in a Facebook post on Thursday, stating that Bright was found deceased in her North Carolina home by a friend and a county sheriff. A cause of death has not been disclosed.

Born on December 13, 1953, in Jackson Springs, North Carolina, Bright worked as a dog trainer and was 56 when she joined the CBS reality series. She competed on Survivor Season 21 as a member of the Espada tribe, which featured older contestants. She ultimately finished in sixth place and was later voted the Sprint Fan Favorite by viewers, earning a $100,000 prize.

Bright became a standout due to her determination and sense of humor. In a past interview, she discussed her late husband Don’s support for her decision to join the show, saying, “Don always wanted me to do this… he is here… I know they’re with me, honey” (via Entertainment Weekly.) She also recounted light-hearted stories from her time training dogs, showcasing her personality beyond the game.

Following the news of her death, several fellow contestants and fans paid tribute. Survivor: Ghost Island contestant Donathan Hurley wrote, “One of my favorite Survivor family members… has passed away. I loved Jane so much!!! This lady was a firecracker!” Two-time Survivor winner Sandra Diaz-Twine also honored Bright in a tribute.

Bright’s legacy as a fan-favorite contestant and memorable personality continues to be acknowledged by Survivor viewers and cast members. CBS has not yet issued an official statement.
