Simu Liu Proposes to Girlfriend Allison Hsu in Paris

Shang-Chi star Simu Liu is officially off the market as he recently announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend Allison Hsu. With the iconic Eiffel Tower as their backdrop for the occasion, the proposal took place in Paris, which is also dubbed as City of Love.

Simu Liu and Allison Hsu, who have been dating since late 2022, shared the engagement news on Instagram on May 11, posting romantic photos of the couple dressed in elegant all-white ensembles. In the pictures, Hsu showed her diamond ring as the actor wrote, “Us forever.” Hsu echoed the sentiment by commenting, “I love you fiancé!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

In another Instagram post, Liu gave a sneak peek into their journey together, writing, “From weekends in Paris, day trips to Palm Springs, long nights on set, afternoons vegging on the couch and everything in between, I choose you, forever and always.”

Before getting engaged, Simu Liu and Allison Hsu had kept their relationship relatively private, but made several red carpet appearances together, including at the 2024 Oscars and the premiere of Barbie in 2023. 

Liu has often expressed his admiration for Hsu, crediting her for bringing positivity into his life. In an Instagram post, he wrote, “She inspires me in her passion for music…teaches me how to balance a busy and chaotic schedule with grace, and touches me in how she cares for each and every person in her life.”

Simu Liu’s engagement announcement has been met with an outpouring of love from fans and fellow celebrities. As he continues filming upcoming projects, including Avengers: Doomsday, the actor seems to have found a balance between professional success and personal fulfillment.

“I feel challenged and loved and cared for,” Liu said earlier. “I think the best, healthiest relationships are ones where you have each other’s back, and I definitely feel like that’s the case,” he added. (via People)
