Simu Liu, as reported by People, appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on December 15, 2025. He enlisted and told the anchor how Taylor Swift helped make his engagement to Allison Hsu extra special.
The Marvel actor revealed that he asked Swift to surprise his fiancée with a congratulatory message. The Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star popped this question of proposal to her in Paris, France.
Liu was aware that his fiancée was involved in the music industry as a digital marketing executive and had a deep admiration for Taylor Swift. He remembered how significant Taylor’s songs were at the start of their relationship. It was through those songs that he got to understand her better and the reasons they held such importance for her.
He further expressed, “I was like, ‘Well, there’s one person that would make this engagement so special,’ and I reached out — as if we’re BFFs, no I mean I met her a couple of times, she’s fantastic — I reached out to Taylor through her publicist and I said, ‘Hey, is there any way that I could convince you to make like a two-second video just to say congrats?’ And she literally, two days later, sent it over, and I was able to play it for her. And so Taylor Swift was the cherry on top.”
