Doechii addresses Met Gala 2025 outburst
Doechii has an explanation for her Met Gala umbrella video. The singer took to social media to justify her outburst as she posted a new TikTok clip that says, “God forbid a girl needs more umbrellas.”
Later, she posted another clarification on Instagram, stating, “All jokes aside, this was such an overstimulating night, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.” The “Denial is a River” crooner noted, “This was the night we all dreamed of and my team killed it (umbrellas aside).”
For the unversed, a video of Doechii shouting to bring more umbrellas before her Met appearance surfaced recently. In the clip, the “Anxiety” rapper demands umbrellas to cover her to avoid a premature unveiling of her 2025 Met Gala look. In the video, the artist yells, “Give me another umbrella now. I need more f–king umbrellas!”
Meanwhile, Doechii’s umbrella video garnered mixed responses from fans. Some fans have defended the singer after her explanation surfaced. One user posted on X, “No shade, the stans on here were dragging it. We’ve seen celebrities do much worse.”
Another opined, “The people who are mad about it already didn’t like her. It was a high-stress moment, that’s all. Leave her alone.” A third user wanted accountability from the singer, who shared, “All she had to do was be real and say sometimes when we’re stressed, we aren’t as polite as we should be. It’s show business; it’s not always please and thank you.”
Additionally, Doechii impressed fans with her Met Gala debut attire, sporting trouser shorts with a matching coat by Pharrell and Louis Vuitton. The singer shared that this year’s theme aligned with her, which made her debut appearance special. She gushed, “The theme this year is in such alignment with who I am (and) what I stand for. It’s nothing but God that this year was our debut.”
