During an appearance on E!’s Fashion Police in February 2011, Ciara weighed in on Rihanna’s look at the BRIT Awards that year. She stated, “I ran into her recently at a party and she wasn’t the nicest, and it’s crazy because I’ve always loved and respected what she’s done with fashion. I’ve ran into her before, but this time it wasn’t the most pleasant run-in.” In response to the statement, Rihanna tweeted, “My bad ci, did I 4get to tip u? #howrudeofme.”
The back and forth on Twitter went on for a while before the pair seemingly made up with Rihanna offering an apology, “Ciara baby, I love u girl! U hurt my feelings real bad on TV! I’m heartbroken! Shortly after the release, Rihanna posted a clip of her watching the video with her friend Melissa and having a laugh together. Ciara responded with, “I thought everything was cool because I actually saw Rihanna two years ago at the MET Gala after we had the little small back and forth.” She further commented, “A lot of good things I’ve always said I’ve been happy for her.
