Kevin Gates appears to have initiated a beef with NBA veteran LeBron James by making several contentious comments regarding James’ relationship with his wife. The two have since shared several back-and-forth statements with each other, resulting in a full-fledged beef on the internet.
Here’s everything you need to know regarding the online beef between Kevin Gates and LeBron James.
Why are Kevin Gates and LeBron James beefing?
The beef appears to have begun when Gates took to Instagram to take a jibe at Savannah James, LeBron’s long-term partner. The renowned rapper criticized Savannah’s demeanor towards her spouse during games, noting, “He’s one of the greatest players to ever play the game, but I wouldn’t want to trade places with him. Because I don’t like the way Savannah look at LeBron.” He also added that “white women” show better reactions towards him. “I like the way them white women look at Lebron,” the singer stated.
Kevin Gates then went on to accuse LeBron James’ wife of trying to regulate James’ actions, saying, “I notice, when he go to do the handshake with the main player on his team, which is… that, you act like I’m bothering you, b—-. I’m the greatest player in the world — one of them. And you act like the warden of the jail, like you came here to police me.”
The four-time NBA champion wasted no time in replying to Gates, sharing a horde of pictures with Savannah James on Instagram with the caption, “Kings don’t concern themselves with the opinions of peasants. Where to next Queen?!?! Let’s get it!” Savannah also responded to Gates’ comments by sharing a clip of a bewildered Nicki Minaj saying, “What? Ummm, chile. Anyway, so…”
Kevin Gates replied to LeBron James after this via an Instagram post, noting, “The truth hurts, but it heals.” He added, “As long as you being celebrated, that’s all I care about you. I don’t care if I gotta fall out with somebody that I love to get the results.” He also added a defensive caption under the post, which read, “@kingjames, I’m way less than a peasant, im a simple servant of #Allah and I love you.”
