Fans had a field day with the clip. One fan shared a GIF of Michael Jordan watching the clip on an iPad, captioning it, “Jordan is going to take so much money off this dude on the course.” Others joked that LeBron is retirement-ready, or called it “the most relatable thing LeBron’s ever done.”
Some threw shade, saying, “I bet his sciatica didn’t stop him from golfing the last few months he was out,” while another chimed in, “I’m not a LeBron fan, but come on, we don’t need to criticize every second of the man’s life.”
This isn’t LeBron James’ first foray into a new sport. During the NBA offseason, he started exploring golf, often coming to the course with his son, Bronny. Clips of his early swings quickly went viral, catching the attention of fans, NBA peers, and NFL legends.
NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe poked fun at LeBron’s “robotic” shoulder motion, while former wide receiver Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson joked that Bronny should have booked his dad a lesson instead of just tagging along. Ex-NBA star Joe Johnson offered some encouragement, noting that LeBron just needs to keep practicing and “he’s going to be alright.”
Even NBA superstar Steph Curry joined in on the fun, mimicking LeBron’s swing and welcoming him to golf. Curry wrote that “the game needs him.” PGA Tour pro Jordan Spieth also took a closer look at LeBron’s swing, noting issues like stiff wrists and a short backswing. Spieth said that with a few tweaks, LeBron could easily “add 30 yards in 30 minutes.”
