Fans were quick to take to social media platforms to talk about his latest appearance. They also shared excitement for his upcoming antagonist role in Avengers: Doomsday.

In a recently shared video by The New York Post on TikTok, Downey Jr. initially appeared to be taking a selfie with a fan. He is then requested by the photographer to pose for the camera. He turns around and asks whether it’s for the post. The photographer admits it is, and Downey Jr. gives off the goofiest pose. He wholeheartedly pouts, later throwing peace signs. He then smiles and thumps his chest proudly. At the very end of the video, he appears to be making a ‘D’ sign with his hands as he asks the cameraman to post it.
Fans quickly took to social media sites to react to the video posted by the outlet. One fan wrote, “That’s my Dr. Doom right there.” Other fans also noted that his new look resembles Warden from Shawshank Redemption and actor Jeremy Irons. Many fans also took a moment to share their excitement for his role in Doomsday. “Bro actually looks believable as Doctor Doom. Crazy sh*t,” another noted.
Downey Jr. will make his return to the MCU with Avengers: Doomsday, releasing on December 18, 2026. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter’s Chatter Podcast, he shared details on how Marvel Boss Kevin Feige approached him to come back to the MCU. He said, “He [Kevin] said, ‘It just keeps occurring to me, if you were to come back …Susan was like, ‘Wait, wait. Come back as what?’”
He further revealed that they went on to discuss how his return could be made possible without undoing his Iron Man arc. “How can we not go backwards? How can we not disappoint expectations? How can we continue to beat expectations? And he brought up Victor Von Doom. I looked into this character. Later on, he goes, ‘Let’s get Victor Von Doom right,” he added.
