Britney Spears shared a new Instagram post on August 28, appearing in a plunging side-cut swimsuit with the lotus emoji in the caption. The post received nearly 10,000 likes within the first hour. Spears, 43, often shares personal reflections alongside images and videos on her account.
The post came shortly after Spears reflected on her marriage to Sam Asghari in a separate Instagram update earlier this week. In that message, she called their time together “the hardest years of my life” and said the relationship “almost felt like a fake distraction to help me deal with it.” She wrote that during the marriage, she was “cut off from calling or texting” her sons, Jayden and Sean, who live with Kevin Federline.
Asghari responded through People on August 26 via his representative at BAC Talent. “Our marriage was very real to me. It may have been short, but we were together for seven years. I was in love with her, will always have love for her, and wish her the best always,” he said. Asghari, 31, filed for divorce from Spears in August 2023 after 14 months of marriage.
The former couple first met in 2016 when Asghari appeared as Spears’ love interest in her “Slumber Party” music video. They married in June 2022 in Los Angeles, but did not have children together. In a June 2025 interview with Page Six Radio, Asghari said that being in a highly public relationship “gave me that platform for who I am,” but also acknowledged he had to “work harder to prove myself.”
In past statements, Asghari defended Spears against scrutiny, calling media depictions of her conservatorship “absolutely disgusting.” He said in 2023, “She was in prison, where her father tells her what to do, what water to drink, who to see, and use her as a money-making machine.”
Their divorce was finalized in late 2023.
