1000-lb Sisters Star Katie Slaton Dead at 37

Katie Slaton, who often made appearances on TLC’s 1000-lb Sisters, has sadly passed away at the age of 37 after a battle with cancer. She featured on the show often, most notably during the fifth season, alongside her cousins, Tammy and Amy Slaton. Amanda Halterman, Tammy and Amy’s sister, announced this tragic news recently on social media.

Katie Slaton was most notably a part of 1000-lb Sisters, which remains a popular television show. She was not the primary focus of the series, but often made appearances alongside Tammy and Amy, her cousins.

Amanda Halterman shared the heartbreaking news of Katie’s passing on Instagram. Alongside a picture of her with Katie, she wrote, “It [is] with a completely crushed heart and spirit that I have to post this. My little cousin went to sit at the feet of Jesus yesterday. She was a force to be reckoned with and showed love that was accepting and given freely.”

Halterman continued, “She was the life of the part and my best friend. I know both our grandparents and friends was there to welcome you home.” She further wrote, “Please pray for my aunt uncle and cousins but mostly for the babies and for Natalie to be strong. Please pray for everyone whom loves her. Thank you all who has come out and supported her.”

Katie’s obituary page further confirmed that she breathed her last on August 25, at Indiana’s Linda White Hospice House. Her funeral service is held on August 29, at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield.

Earlier this year, Katie was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, Stage 4 gastric adenocarcinoma. She had been undergoing chemotherapy. Halterman previously posted about this, too, and asked fans to pray for her. Many have paid tribute to Katie Slaton since.
