The reigning Queen of J-Pop, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu has just released her third full-length album Pika Pika Fantajin in the US. It features “Ring a Bell” – Kyary’s first song sung entirely in English, and the lead single, “Kira Kira Killer,” garnered over a million views on YouTube in just one month.
The album, which is available for purchase at iTunes, refers to a term defined as “shiny, glossy, and lustrous”. Fantajin is a very Kyary-like coined word of “fantasy” + “people.” Just as the title, the album cover (pictured above) describes one of Kyary’s interpretations of the world of fantasy.
The record is a follow-up to 2012’s Nanda Collection garnered praise and attention from the likes of Katy Perry and Ariana Grande, as well as media including Pitchfork, The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, The Fader, MTV Iggy, Vice, and The Los Angeles Times. ‘Pika Pika Fantajin’ was produced by Yasutaka Nakata (Capsule), whom also produced her last two albums.
In celebration, we’re hooking one lucky winner up with a KPP prize pack! Details below.
