Matlock’s Jason Ritter Wants CBS Crossover Event With Tracker

Jason Ritter, who plays Julian Markston on the CBS legal drama Matlock, has proposed a crossover event with another popular show on the network, the action-drama Tracker. Notably, Matlock premiered on September 22, 2024, and has been renewed for the sophomore season. Meanwhile, Tracker debuted on February 11, 2024, followed by its Season 2 on October 13, 2024. CBS has also renewed this show for a future chapter.

Matlock star Jason Ritter pitches Tracker crossover with a Julian-Colter team up

Jason Ritter pitched the idea of a Matlock and Tracker crossover event during a recent interview with US Weekly. In the finale of the first season of the former show, it is revealed that Julian was hiding the sensitive WellBrexa documents.

Ritter jokingly suggested that if Julian has to leave law firm Jacobson Moore, where he serves as a senior partner, because of his actions, he can team up with Colter Shaw, Justin Hartley’s series protagonist in Tracker.

“If Tracker ever wants a partner [for Colter], maybe Julian leaves the firm and he starts a new life. Just two rugged guys,” Ritter told the outlet as he promoted his August 23rd appearance as the host of The Festival of Arts’ California Dreamin’: A Benefit for the Arts.

The Wellbrexa documents could have potentially saved the late daughter of Kathy Bates’ Madeline. Julian’s estranged wife, Skye P. Marshall’s Olympia Lawrence, is the one who discovers that he has kept them hidden in his locker.

In the above-mentioned interview, Ritter teased what’s ahead for Julian in Season 2. “Julian is going to have to grapple — one way or another — with this. It’s such a shameful thing that he has just put it away, tried to be a good dad, and focused on his family,” he said. “Now, he is grappling with the ramifications of what he did. Also, he’s terrified.”

Matlock Season 2 comes out on CBS on October 12, 2025. Tracker Season 3 premieres on October 19, 2025.
