The Social Network Sequel Likely To Cast Jeremy Allen White With Oscar Winner

The Social Network 2, directed by Aaron Sorkin, is eyeing lead stars from The Bear and Anora. Two award-winning actors are currently in discussions to join the sequel, emerging as Sorkin’s top choices to headline the next chapter in the Facebook saga.

Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White could join The Social Network sequel

According to Deadline, Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White have not received formal offers, but both are being eyed by Aaron Sorkin, who is currently assembling the cast and budget before submitting them to the studio for approval. Reportedly, they have also met with Sorkin.

He is eyeing Madison, who won the 2024 Best Actress Oscar for Anora, to play Frances Haugen, the Facebook whistleblower. White, a two-time Emmy winner for The Bear, is reportedly in line to play Jeff Horwitz, the former Wall Street Journal reporter who led The Facebook Files exposé. The sequel is based on Horwitz’s 2021 investigative series detailing Facebook’s internal research into the harms caused by its platform.

The film is not a direct sequel to the 2010 David Fincher-directed original but instead a new chapter focusing on Facebook’s impact in the 2020s. While the original film chronicled the creation of the social network, this installment explores Facebook’s knowledge of misinformation, harm to youth, and its alleged role in the January 6 Capitol attack. Sorkin began developing the script following those events, citing them as a turning point for the project.

Sony Pictures is distributing the film, with production led by Sorkin, Stuart Besser, Peter Rice, and Todd Black. The studio has declined to comment on casting or development status. Casting for the role of Mark Zuckerberg remains undetermined, and it is unclear whether Jesse Eisenberg will return.

Madison is expected to film The Masque of the Red Death for A24 in 2026. White will next appear as Bruce Springsteen in Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, set for release on October 24.
