Jeremy Allen White Talks Bruce Springsteen’s Involvement in Biopic Movie

Jeremy Allen White is working on a Bruce Springsteen biopic called Deliver Me from Nowhere. The actor revealed how involved the singer was throughout the production process. White says the role was a blessing. He describes a mix of practical help, personal gifts, and regular presence that shaped how he prepared and performed.

Jeremy Allen White says Bruce Springsteen was ‘on set all the time’ in Deliver Me from Nowhere

Jeremy Allen White told Kate Hudson that Springsteen approved the project and offered support, but did not rewrite the script. “Bruce gave the go-ahead for our director, Scott Cooper, to do this movie but was hands-off during the writing process,” White said in the conversation with Hudson (via Variety).

Still, Bruce Springsteen spent time with the cast before filming and remained nearby during production. “I got together with him first in London, at Wembley, and I got invited to soundcheck. He brought me up on stage prior to everybody coming in. We spent a few weeks together, and then he was on set all the time, which was not something that we knew going into it,” White added.

That close contact had concrete effects on the Shameless actor’s approach. He described how period clothing and actual items from Springsteen’s life helped shape the physical performance. He expressed, “It was tight and really informed the physicality. It messed with my posture.”

White also said receiving personal items from Springsteen, such as a St. Christopher medal and a 1955 Gibson J-200 guitar, made the role feel more real and more personal. He recalled, “He did give me his St. Christopher medal that he had for a very long time. And he gave me a guitar to learn to play, a 1955 Gibson J-200.”

Bruce Springsteen left the film’s storytelling to the writers and producers. However, the 76-year-old had a steady presence on the set and helped with everything.
