Happy Gilmore 2’s Adam Sandler on Taylor Swift’s Cameo Possibility

Adam Sandler recently discussed casting decisions for Happy Gilmore 2 and why Travis Kelce landed a role while Taylor Swift did not. In a new interview at the film’s premiere, Sandler explained how Kelce joined the project and why he chose not to approach Swift despite his family’s admiration for her. He also shared how his daughters reacted to the casting and addressed fan curiosity surrounding Swift’s absence.

Happy Gilmore 2’s Adam Sandler says no one bothered Taylor Swift for a cameo

Speaking with Extra, Sandler said, “Travis was just nice enough – he wanted to do something, so we wrote something for Travis, and when he said yes, my girls were very excited. Including my wife.”

Sandler was then asked if Taylor Swift was ever considered for a role in Happy Gilmore 2. He responded, “We didn’t want to bother Taylor. Just let Taylor entertain the world like she does.” He added, “I listened to ‘All Too Well’ three times in a row with my kid. [Taylor’s] done a lot for our planet, so we love her.”

At the Happy Gilmore 2 premiere in New York City, Sandler also explained that his daughters, Sunny and Sadie, are big fans of both Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. Their excitement about Kelce’s role contributed to the casting decision. Neither Kelce nor Swift attended the premiere, but both were discussed by attendees and the press.

Julie Bowen, who co-stars in the film, praised Kelce’s on-set presence, saying, “Please, is anybody surprised? He’s a star. He’s always been a star. He continues to be a star.”

At the premiere, Sandler also interacted with other celebrities who make cameos in the film, including Bad Bunny. A lighthearted moment occurred when Sandler approached Bad Bunny, who jumped in surprise before hugging him and laughing. Bad Bunny’s patterned outfit drew widespread social media attention, with some commenters questioning his fashion choices.

Happy Gilmore 2 is set to release on July 25, 2025.
