Marvel Theory Claims Mephisto & Mysterio Made a Deal in MCU

A new Ironheart theory proposes that a major Spider-Man villain may not have acted alone in his rise to power. The theory suggests he could have secretly made a deal with Mephisto, whose recent debut in Ironheart may retroactively link to earlier MCU events. If true, this connection could reframe his actions as part of a larger demonic influence already spreading across the MCU.

Why Mysterio could have made a deal with Mephisto in MCU

According to a theory featured by New Rockstars, Mephisto’s confirmed presence in Ironheart opens the door to potential past deals with characters like Quentin Beck.

In the Ironheart finale, Mephisto., played by Sacha Baron Cohen, says, “You’re not my only client,” suggesting he has struck multiple deals with individuals across the MCU. He claims to have bargained with “100 of the Forbes richest, 14 kings, three popes, and a beetle,” indicating a widespread influence over powerful figures.

Quentin Beck, also known as Mysterio, once worked at Stark Industries. He felt betrayed after Tony Stark renamed his holographic tech B.A.R.F. and later fired him for emotional instability. Following Stark’s death, Beck used advanced drones and illusion tech to stage attacks and pose as a hero. As detailed in Spider-Man: Far From Home, he manipulated public perception, ultimately dying after attempting to frame Spider-Man.

The theory suggests that Mysterio fits the profile of Mephisto’s typical clients. The demon targets those who are “exceptional, terrific, the dogged… inquisitive and curious,” especially individuals lacking privilege but striving for greatness.

Beck’s ambitions and his rapid rise using illusion tech align with the pattern. The theory suggests Mephisto may have made similar deals with tech rivals like Justin Hammer or Aldrich Killian.

In Ironheart, Mephisto offers Parker Robbins (The Hood) immense power through a Faustian bargain. He uses phrases like “What is it that you most desire?” and promises wealth in exchange for “something you won’t even miss.” Parker Robbins and Beck share parallels in their dissatisfaction, ambition, and deceit.

If Mysterio made a deal with Mephisto, it could explain the sophistication of his illusions. It may also account for his reality manipulation and the chaos that followed his death. As Mephisto tells Parker Robbins, “I stuck to our agreement. To every letter of it.” This cryptic line implies long-standing contracts that may retroactively extend across earlier MCU phases.
