Reports about King Charles’ funeral plans have once again made headlines. Earlier, speculations were made about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle being snubbed from the plans. However, The Telegraph reported that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would seemingly play a significant role. Allegedly, the 76-year-old monarch would prefer his family to be reunited at his funeral.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will play key role in King Charles’ funeral, says source
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made their exit from royal duties and England in 2020. They moved to California with their children — Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Since their departure, the Sussex couple opened up about their experience with the royals through documentaries and memoirs. Due to this, the feud seemingly escalated.
Therefore, when the reports about King Charles’ funeral plans came out, sources suggested that the duke and duchess might not be treated like other royals. But, The Telegraph stated that Harry and his wife would play “a prominent role alongside the most senior royals during the funeral service.”
Reportedly, the 40-year-old prince would “walk side by side” with his brother, Prince William, during the procession. The latter would be crowned the king after the current monarch. Furthermore, Markle and Harry’s children, Lilibet and Archie, would also be invited to attend the service at Westminster Abbey, as per the outlet.
The report certainly indicates a possible reunion between Harry and his royal family. Since his and Charles’ aides met in London, the reconciliation talks have become a hot topic of discussion. Various articles suggested that both parties have been interested in burying the hatchet.
Previously, an insider revealed details to Rob Shuter’s #ShuterScoop about the monarch’s funeral plans. They said that the king’s youngest son might not be allowed to “sit with [Queen] Camilla, [Princess] Kate or [Prince] William.” Calling it a “clear message” to Harry, the source added, “He’s out of the inner circle — and this makes it permanent.” Meanwhile, the royal palace has yet to address the topic. So, Markle and Harry’s roles in the king’s funeral plans remain unconfirmed.
