Lauren Sanchez Bezos is one emotional mother as her 19-year-old son Evan Whitesell is moving to college to start the “next chapter” of his life. The mom of three shared her mixed feelings in an Instagram story on August 11. She posted a snapshot of her teen “building his own dorm cabinet,” at the University of Miami, where he is enrolled to study business.
Looking at the son’s growth, the philanthropist couldn’t help but recall some special moments. She wrote, “18 years of early mornings, late night snacks, and family dinners” with her son. Nevertheless, the former journalist felt “Proud. Heartbroken. Grateful” for his new beginnings.
As per PEOPLE, Bezos announced Evan’s acceptance to the University of Miami in December 2024 on her Instagram Stories. In the post, she hinted that her son will study at Miami’s Herbert Business School.
The 55-year-old shares Evan and daughter Ella with her former spouse Patrick Whitesell, who is now the executive chairman of Endeavor. The former couple was married in 2005 before parting ways in 2019. She had her eldest son Nikko Gonzalez with NFL athlete Tony Gonzalez.
Both her sons, Evan and Nikko, walked her down the aisle at her dream wedding to Jeff Bezos in June. Her daughter Ella, served as the maid of honor at the lavish ceremony on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore.
