Deadline confirmed, citing sources that Jack Reynor has been cast for the upcoming chapter of Apple TV+ legal thriller, Presumed Innocent Season 2, which is based on Jo Murray’s debut novel Dissection of a Murder, set for release in 2026. Apple has not commented on Reynor’s casting or provided details about his role.
While Season 1 adapted Scott Turow’s 1987 novel, Season 2 follows a new storyline. It centers on Leila Reynolds, a rookie lawyer assigned to defend Jack Millman. He is the main suspect in the high-profile murder of a well-known judge. The book synopsis states that Millman insists on having Reynolds as his attorney and refuses to speak. This puts her in a difficult position to uncover the truth while protecting her own secrets.
David E. Kelley and Erica Lipez lead the series as showrunners. Dustin Thomason and Rachel Brosnahan, who will also feature in the upcoming season, join the production team. Jake Gyllenhaal, who led Season 1, reportedly remains an executive producer under his Nine Stories banner. Scott Turow serves as a co-executive producer.
Season 1 featured Gyllenhaal as Rusty Sabich. It earned four Primetime Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Actor and Supporting Actor/Actress categories. The 1990 film adaptation, starring Harrison Ford, grossed over $221 million worldwide.
Reynor recently appeared in Midsommar, The Perfect Couple, and Transformers: Age of Extinction. He will star in the upcoming season of Prime Video’s Citadel and reunite with filmmaker John Carney for Power Ballad.
