Megan Thee Stallion got hospitalized after a live performance of Moulin Rouge! The Musical, when the rapper began feeling unwell. According to a statement shared with Variety, her representative confirmed, “During Tuesday night’s production, Megan started feeling very ill and was promptly transported to a local hospital, where her symptoms are currently being evaluated.” The statement added, “We will share additional updates as more information becomes available,” without offering further details about her condition.

Audience members present at the show noted that the performance was abruptly halted. The Breakfast Club host Loren Lorosa shared her experience on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Came to see Meg Thee Stallion on Broadway and that was short lived. The few opening scenes I saw her in she was great on stage! I was excited BUT … They just stopped Moulin Rouge mid-show, apologized to the audience and said … ‘Stay inside and seated.’”

She later confirmed that Megan was replaced by another performer, noting that the replacement was “amazing.” Megan Thee Stallion’s ill update also got concern from her team. Her hairstylist, Kellon Deryck, posted on X, “Everyone say a prayer for Megan, we are all at the hospital.”

Megan Thee Stallion began her limited Broadway run on March 24 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. She took on the role of Harold Zidler, originally played by Danny Burstein, becoming the first female-identifying performer to play the character. Her eight-week engagement was scheduled to run through May 17, though it remains unclear how the production will proceed following her sudden hospitalization.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical, which has been running on Broadway for seven years, is set to close on July 26 after more than 2,200 performances.
