President Donald Trump criticized one of the current faces of Fox News’ The Five during a recent appearance on the show. While Jessica Tarlov was absent from the episode, Trump told the panel he is “not a fan” of the Democratic strategist.
Donald Trump slams Jessica Tarlov during interview
The president phoned into the show for a conversation that covered topics including the Strait of Hormuz and his support among gay voters. Tarlov, a Democratic strategist and co-host of the Raging Moderates podcast, was absent from the March 26 panel.
The exchange began when co-host Jesse Watters asked Trump if his next appearance could be in person. “Because we really want you to sit next to Jessica,” Watters said as the panel laughed. “I think you’d be a good influence on her. Can you do that?” He paused before responding. “Well… I watch Jessica, and I’m not a fan.”
Donald Trump then claimed Jessica Tarlov “uses fake numbers” when reporting on his popularity. He imitated her, saying, “‘He’s only polling 42%…’” before adding, “That’s not right, I’m polling very high actually.” The president’s comments followed Fox News polling released March 25 that showed his highest disapproval rating across both terms.
The survey indicated 59% of registered voters disapprove of Trump’s job performance, with 47% strongly disapproving. Among Republicans, his approval rating stood at 82%, down from 92%.
He then stated, “I’m sure I’d like her, I’m sure she’s a lovely person, she’s just not for me.” Watters responded, “I get it, we’re working on her, don’t worry.” Thursday’s episode featured Dana Perino, Kennedy, Greg Gutfeld, Kayleigh McEnany, and Watters. Tarlov’s absence was not addressed at the start of the show.
Later, Tarlov shared a clip of Trump’s remarks on social media, saying she was “so bummed” to miss the episode. She added, “But I definitely would’ve said he’s even inflating his numbers to 42%!”
