Reacher star Alan Ritchson will not face criminal charges following a weekend fight with a neighbor in Brentwood, Tennessee. Authorities closed the case after reviewing video footage and witness statements, concluding that no further legal action would be pursued.
Police say Alan Ritchson’s fight was in ‘self-defense’
Brentwood Police Captain Steven Pepin confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that Alan Ritchson’s actions fell within the bounds of self-defense and not an initiated fight. The department declined to pursue criminal charges after a thorough review of available materials.
“After reviewing available evidence, including video footage and witness statements, authorities determined that no criminal charges will be pursued. Mr. Ritchson’s actions were found to be in self-defense,” Pepin told the outlet.
The captain added that prosecutors considered a potential reckless endangerment charge but ultimately moved forward differently. Ritchson himself chose not to press charges against his neighbor, Ronnie Taylor.
For more context, the fight stemmed from a dispute over Ritchson’s motorcycle. Taylor initially claimed he approached the actor after seeing him ride through their Brentwood neighborhood at what he considered excessive speeds.
The next day, Taylor said he approached again while Ritchson rode with his sons, and the situation escalated after Taylor used profanity in his request. However, the viral fight footage from the scene showed Taylor on the ground as Alan Ritchson punched him repeatedly while the children watched from their bikes nearby.
Another angle, which social media users identified as coming from Ritchson’s body camera, shows Taylor standing in the middle of the street and blocking the actor’s path, who was traveling between 19 and 23 mph before swerving to avoid Taylor and falling off his bike.
It further shows Ritchson approaching Taylor and asking if he is “out of your f**king mind.” Taylor responds by accusing Ritchson of riding “like a f**king lunatic.” It escalates to Taylor daring Ritchon to run him over. When asked to move, he countered with, “You move!”
The actor has not directly addressed the altercation publicly.
