While Prince William is preparing himself for the role of future monarch, a royal author has claimed that his late mother, Princess Diana, was preparing his younger brother, Prince Harry, to be the king. Prince William is preparing himself for his future role as a monarch. But it seems his later mother, Princess Diana, was keen to make his younger brother, Prince Harry, the king, according to veteran royal writer Richard Kay. He made the claims during the Daily Mail’s “Palace Confidential” podcast, answering viewers’ questions about King Charles, Princess Diana, Prince William, and Prince Harry.
According to the author, Diana’s eldest son was well aware of his destiny, but, due to his “shy” nature, the late princess was preparing her youngest son to take over the crown. “I think William has been a bit of a surprise,” said Kay, as per Fox News.
“He was a shy young man. Certainly, when his mother was still alive, she would tell me that she never really thought that William wanted the ‘top job,’ as she called it. The idea that he would one day wear the crown. She, in her mind, was preparing the way for the possibility that it would be Harry who succeeded his father.”
Kay even revealed that Diana even “had a little nickname for Harry” and “used to call him ‘Good King Harry,” admitting that “things haven’t worked out that way.” But he is glad that William has come out of his shell and “is coming up with some quite different ways to approach royalty” as he “recognizes that some aspects of monarchy … don’t resonate well with the modern public.”
Meanwhile, the expert is also impressed with the fact that the Prince of Wales is “aware that he’s going to have to make some big changes to ensure its survival.”
