Colin Jost and Michael Che mocks Kristi Noem over getting fired

Jost and Che started their episode of Weekend Update with the news surrounding Kristi Noem’s firing as Homeland Security Secretary. Jost initially questioned sarcastically as to why she was fired before saying, “At least name the 1 to 20 things she did wrong.” Noem’s firing comes as lawmakers in Congress cast mounting doubts on her leadership. She was also embroiled in controversy surrounding her ad campaign and her embrace of harsh immigration methods.

He then went on to touch upon issues for which Noem had made headlines, including what Jost claimed was an innocent Minneapolis protester who was shot and whom she had called a domestic terrorist, as well as her spending of taxpayer money on ad campaigns. He also went to mock her ad campaign, where he believed she looked identical to Jessie from Toy Story. “She’s so happy riding the horse in this. I bet his name is Corey Lewandowski,” he said, referring to her image from the ad campaign.

He then went on to say, “Imagine being singled out as the worst member of Trump’s cabinet. That’s like someone coming up to a party and saying. We think you should leave. You’re making Diddy uncomfortable.” Che then followed up on the news presented by Jost, revealing that Noem has been appointed by Trump as the Special Envoy to the Shield of the Americas. He then mocked that the department is relatively new and is located at the farm upstate.
