PBS has renewed its popular period crime drama featuring Kate Phillips for a final season. The network has confirmed that the upcoming installment will also serve as the show’s final chapter. The decision brings the acclaimed detective drama to a planned conclusion after several successful seasons on the network.

The period drama Miss Scarlet has been renewed for a seventh season on PBS’ Masterpiece, with the upcoming chapter set to conclude the mystery series. Since its debut in 2021 on Masterpiece Mystery!, the show has followed the professional and personal life of Eliza Scarlet, a determined investigator working in Victorian London.
According to Variety, Kate Phillips will once again lead the series as Eliza Scarlet. Tom Durant-Pritchard returns as Alexander Blake, alongside familiar cast members including Paul Bazely, Tim Chipping, and Evan McCabe, among others. The final season will consist of six episodes, with Ivan Zivkovic directing the concluding chapter. Filming is currently underway in Serbia.
Season 7 will continue to explore Eliza’s life as she navigates both professional and personal challenges. The storyline places her under increasing pressure as she balances her investigative work with changes in her personal life. The season also introduces a powerful new crime boss arriving in London, while Blake’s recent promotion brings complications of its own.
Phillips reflected on the experience of portraying Eliza, describing the series as “the greatest joys of my career.” She added, “It’s been a privilege to work on a show crafted with so much love and dedication, and as we prepare to say goodbye, I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved and the memories we’ve made.”
New, who created and writes the series, also shared her thoughts on the show’s journey. She said, “I’m very proud of how the final season plays out and the story we tell for Eliza. It’s a wrench to say goodbye to a character that I have lived and breathed for all these years, but Eliza will forever be with me whether on screen or off.”
