It seems Daniel Radcliffe cannot bear to watch his Harry Potter audition tape. The actor featured on The View recently for an interview to promote his new NBC comedy, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, where he was shown his audition clip. The 36-year-old catapulted to global fame after playing the boy wizard protagonist in the eponymous franchise.

Daniel Radcliffe reacted to his Harry Potter audition tape on The View recently. Co-host Sunny Hostin asked the actor, “You have an almost three-year-old son, and…he does not know you are Harry Potter?” The Guns Akimbo star replied, “No, he knows nothing about that side of my life.”
Hostin remarked, “Pretty soon he (Radcliffe’s son) is going to realize that his dad is Harry Potter because it’s been 25 years since you starred in the first Harry Potter movie. You were 11 years old when you auditioned for the role. And of course, this is The View, so we have a clip. Take a look.”
The conversation cuts to Radcliffe’s audition tape for Harry Potter. The View showed the 36-year-old actor’s reaction to his audition clip. Throughout the video, Radcliffe was seemingly mouthing “It’s bad” and shaking his head. The hosts and the in-house audience clapped and cheered him on, saying, “So good,” but the actor simply shook his head.
The Kill Your Darlings star remarked, “I disagree, but thank you very much… Now I can look at that and be like, it’s cute.” Whoopi Goldberg swooped into the conversation and replied, “You evolved it… You went from that, which, in spite of what you think, is really good, which is why you got the gig. But you’ve evolved, and that’s the beautiful thing.”
While he may not be keen on showing his son the highly popular Harry Potter movies, Radcliffe confessed on The Late Show recently that he is excited for his son to watch the upcoming HBO Harry Potter reboot series. The Now You See Me star shared, “I’m actually delighted that when my kid grows up and is into Harry Potter, he can watch a version that is not me. I feel like watching it with your dad would be less cool. It would take you out of it.”
